Meet Alyssa – Lead Designer & Co-Founder
Alyssa’s eye for detail was honed early through a dual background in interior design and fashion merchandising at Point Loma Nazarene University. Beginning her career in 2015 in visual merchandising and retail storefront design, she developed a deep understanding of how space and style work together to create an experience.
In 2018, she transitioned into interior design for high-end residential remodels, working closely with investors on luxury property transformations. Her style blends beauty and functionality, with a focus on curating timeless spaces that reflect how clients actually live.
In 2020, she co-founded So‑Cal Design & Reno alongside her husband Jose, bringing her design vision to personal and client homes alike. Whether sourcing finishes or mapping flow, Alyssa’s design philosophy is rooted in clarity, balance, and livable elegance.

Meet Jose – Licensed General Contractor & Co-Founder
Jose brings over a decade of hands-on experience across every trade in construction. He began his journey as a project manager for a property maintenance contractor, where he learned the ins and outs of plumbing, electrical, finish carpentry, and structural work. His deep respect for the process and for doing things the right way, built the foundation for the builder he is today.
He later transitioned into investment property renovations, managing high-stakes projects designed to maximize resale value. With each project, his eye for detail sharpened and his client-first mindset became core to his approach.
In 2021, Jose earned his general contractor license and partnered with Alyssa to bring design and build together under one roof. Today, he leads construction projects with a sense of pride and personal responsibility, managing every detail as if it were his own home.

Jose and Alyssa’s journey isn’t just professional, it’s deeply personal. Early in their careers, they took on the full demo and rebuild of their own home: designing, budgeting, problem-solving, and building side by side. That experience shaped how they work today, with empathy, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to their clients.
As a husband-and-wife team, they bring the best of both worlds: design and structure, creativity and strategy, trust and transparency. Together, they’ve built So‑Cal Design & Reno as a boutique firm with a big-picture mindset rooted in family values and elevated by luxury-level execution.
